Nestled just outside the historic city walls of Derry, Castle Gate Lodge offers a charming blend of comfort and modernity that truly catered to my preferences as both a traveler and a marine biologist. The clean, spacious double room was equipped with thoughtful amenities like a tea and coffee maker and a well-designed private bathroom, making the stay highly convenient after a day exploring the local sights such as the Museum of Free Derry. The fully-equipped kitchen was a delightful surprise; my companion and I enjoyed preparing some local ingredients for dinner, fostering a sense of community amidst other travelers. The secure atmosphere of the lodge allowed us to unwind after our busy days, knowing we had a robust door and strong locks keeping our belongings safe. With its central location, easy access to Derry’s vibrant pubs and restaurants, and the friendly support from the owners, Castle Gate Lodge is perfect for travelers like me who appreciate a home-like feel yet still want to immerse themselves in the local culture.
